STOP MOTION
I never thought I’d do stop motion going into college, but I was looking to fill two credits one semester and stumbled upon a StopMo class. Naturally, out of curiously I signed up for the course with a friend and there began my journey! Throughout the semester I became more and more interested in the community and can totally see myself doing more of this in the future.
The downside to this medium is that fabricating from scratch takes a LONG time and requires a lot of materials. My biggest takeaway from the class was the process is extremely complex but equally as rewarding. (To hear more about his head over to The Process – Dream On)
So, although I can’t commit the time to working on a full stop motion project right now, I’ve been keeping up with my fabricating skills by sewing, embroidering, and learning by watching a plethora of stop motion films.
In the exercises you can find a collection of all the practice assignments I had to do for my stop motion class. Some will be with the puppet I was building throughout the semester but also working with found items and clay. Here there will also be updates on how I’m continuing to practice fabricating skills in my downtime!
